May 9, 2008 - Rain, rain go away!

It was cold and rainy all day. It was a school day for me so I didn't get to see the Mom's much. When it rains, they open up their wings to cover the entire nest to protect their young/eggs.

I did get to sneak a peek at the two little ones tonight. The third egg hasn't hatched yet. I was happy to see two little mouths wide open and ready to eat. With the cold and rain, I did worry that Mama might lose a baby or two. The statistics for a successful clutch is only 40%. I am hoping that I won't have to witness the harsher side of nature while watching these Robin families.

More rain and cold expected tomorrow, I hope those two babies are strong enough to take it.
